Trivia and history
In Roman times, Campania was considered one of the most sought-after destinations for rest and pleasure for the aristocracy. Roman emperors, senators and patricians chose this region to build their sumptuous villas, surrounded by breathtaking views and the mild climate of the Mediterranean.
Even today, we can still admire the remains of these ancient luxury residences, such as the Villa of Poppea in Oplontis, the Villa of Tiberius in Capri, the Villa of Pollio Felice and the Roman villas in the Campi Flegrei. These places tell of an era in which Campania was the symbol of Roman otium, a luxury made of culture, nature and well-being.
